Definition Essay: Beauty

My definition of beauty is felt in our heart in many ways. Sometimes people see beauty as that of an actress' appearance and thinking, like Audrey Hepburn. She pursued her beauty; she returned her love for poor children later in her life. In this writing, I would like to empharize my four major points. Beauty can be defined in many ways; it is a quality that is longed for, appreciated and felt in the heart.

The definition of beauty differs with the person's age, culture and way of thinking. What may be so beautiful for me may not be so bautiful for the others. For example; for Japanese people, white skinned people are beautiful, while for Americans, brown skinned people are beautiful. Everybody yearns for beauty. It is natural that we long for beauty because we are all human beings. Beauty, as defined phisically; talks about the face, skin and body figure. For most Japanese, we have te saying that, " The heart of the person natters more than physical appearance". For example, being grateful and respectful to your family and friends is a sign of beauty for us. That is beauty of the heart-one may not be so handsome and so tall, but he has a good charactor.

We appreciate beauty i nthe works of art, paintings, buildings and music. For exampl; the excellent sculpture, "Venus de Milo", the famous "Monna Lisa" 's smile, the different colors of flowers like rose, the great architechures of church buildings like "The Sagrada familia" in Spain. We are also inspired by Mozart's classical music; those artists have differernt nationalities, different ages and different thinkings, but we appeciate the beauty of their works up to now. Artists express their mind through their works. When we see their works, we find beauty in them. Their works help us gt connected to their emotion. For example, when people more closer to a painting by Vincent Van Gogh, people find his painting mre beautiful.

"Beauty is nt always seen but is felt i the heart". This is quoted by Helen Keller. She was born blind and deaf and yet she found beauty in her experiences. She has a positive outlook about life. She did not complain and she became a great motivator during her times.

Therefore, in my opinion, beauty is seen outside and inside and it is indeed felt in the heart. It is something that everyone can experience and enjoy like Audrey Hepburn and Helen Keller. And the person who have both beauties is the one who shines.
